Embracing the Northeast Spirit: Students of “Northeast Local Opera Screenwriting Training Program” Engage in Artistic Practice at Tao Li Mei Grand Theater

On June 21, 2024, the students of the National Art Fund’s  “Northeast Local Opera Screenwriting Training Program” participated in an artistic practice session at the TaoLi Mei Grand Theater and attended a performance by the Jilin Folk Art Troupe. The actors include a popular online influencer “Snow Cake Monkey” Wang Tiezhu, a national first-class actor Chai Baoyu, as well as provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritors of the Northeast Errenzhuan, Wang Hongchen and Li Yulian. The performance included both traditional Errenzhuan pieces, such as Jugang: Repairing the Jar, Writing a Love Letter in the West Chamber, and Bao Gong Judges the Empress, and a variety of adaptations such as The Spirit of Northeast China, Ode to Pear Blossoms, Watching Yangge Dance, My Hometown — the Great Northeast China, and Inside and Outside the Wall. The performance drew enthusiastic applause from the audience, creating a vibrant atmosphere throughout the venue.
