Changchun Guanghua University
Changchun Guanghua University is located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province. Founded in 2000, it is a demonstration university for transformation and development in Jilin Province, a model university for undergraduate talent cultivation reform in Jilin Province and a university under development for granting master’s professional degrees. In the 2025 CUAA Ranking of Chinese Private Universities (Category II), CGU ranked the tenth, maintaining its status as one of China’s Top Application-oriented Universities for five consecutive years.

CGU comprises four campuses and eight schools, including the Business School, School of Electrical Information, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Chinese Literature, School of Film, School of Art and Design, and School of Education. It offers 44 undergraduate programs across four major clusters in “Engineering, Economics & Management, Arts and Literature” as well as four distinctive disciplines of “Engineering, Arts, Business and Literature”, with nearly 13,000 full-time students enrolled.

CGU has a faculty of 870 members, with 45.2% holding senior professional titles and 11.6% holding doctoral degrees. It has developed several influential and promising teaching and research teams across various academic disciplines.

Major Development
CGU currently has three first-class major development sites (national level) and two first-class courses (nation- al level), along with a total of 19 first-class major devel- opment sites (provincial level) and distinctive high-level majors (provincial level) as well as a total of 50 first-class courses (provincial level) and high-quality online open courses (provincial level). It has won 12 provincial teaching achievement awards. Over the past three academic years, students have won a total of 2,186 awards in various competitions at the provincial level and above, among which 698 awards were achieved in international or national competitions.
CGU is committed to fostering partnerships with en- terprises, industry associations and local govern- ments. It has established 159 on-campus and off-campus internship and training bases, including one national-level entrepreneur-incubation project and one provincial exemplary modern industry acad- emy. In certain school-enterprise partnership pro- grams, students have achieved a 100% rate in year-end employment placement, high-salary em- ployment and employment in fields aligned with their majors.

CGU boasts 32 research platforms (provincial level) and one innovation team (provincial level), along with ten research platforms (university level) and 11 research institutes (university level). It collaborates with Northeast Normal University, Yanbian University, Changchun University of Technology, Changchun University, Jilin Jianzhu University and others to cultivate master’s students, with eight cohorts of postgraduate students successfully graduated. 48 teachers have been appointed master’s supervisors.
CGU has developed distinct features and strengths in research areas, including intelligent manufacturing, cultural heritage preservation, rural revitalization, as well as drama and film studies. It has established research institutions such as the Songhua River Basin Ethnic Art Museum, initiated the E-Commerce Society of Jilin Province and led the compilation of Northeast Rural Revitalization Blue Book. It has received the Science and Technology Progress Award of Jilin Province and the Educational Science Achievement Award of Jilin Province, with a number of scientific and technological achievements being rapidly translated into practical applications. Numerous theatrical and film works have won the Gold Award for Best Work at Asian Microfilm Art Festival as well as other major television and arts awards in Jilin Province. It has also successfully secured funding from the 2024 National Art Fund.

International Exchange Event
CGU collaborates with renowned universities worldwide, including Edinburgh Napier University (UK), East Siberian State University of Technology and Manage- ment (Russia), Hallym University (South Korea) and Chiba University (Japan). These partnerships enable a wide range of international exchanges and coopera- tion programs, such as student exchange programs, dual-degree undergraduate programs, integrated bachelor’s and master’s programs as well as joint graduate training programs, with over 200 students studying abroad.
In recent years, CGU has recruited over ten high-level foreign experts from the UK, Japan, Russia and South Korea to teach and conduct research. It has sent over 80 teachers abroad for academic visits or doctoral studies, and es- tablished an international research cooperation fund to support transnational research projects. 13 teachers have been appointed supervisors (the second) for master’s students at Edinburgh Napier University.

Campus Culture
CGU is dedicated to cultivating a “National Culture” and “Family Culture” identity through diverse cultural activities, involving Traditional Culture Month, Festival Folk Experiences, Club Carnivals, “Chairman’s Calligraphy Lecture” and “A Letter to Home” Campaign in order to enrich cultural life on campus. It has actively introduced intangible cultural heritage and ethnic folk traditions and established a Traditional Arts Troupe that regularly performs. Relying on its strengths of academic disciplines, it promotes cultural heritage and innovation, with several artistic works co-produced by teachers and students earning domestic and international accolades.
