From October to November 2024, CGU and Edinburgh Napier University jointly organized event series of the 2024 International Exchange and Cooperation, aiming to deepen academic exchange and collaboration between the two universities, enhance faculty research capabilities, broaden international perspectives and promote the high-quality development of CGU’s research efforts. The events were guided by the Education Department of Jilin Province.
The series of events comprised several key sessions. On October 29, Dr. Leo Tiran Zhou, Assistant Professor at the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University, was invited to deliver an in-depth discussion on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. He also shared valuable advice on publishing academic papers in the field of CSR.

On the morning of November 4, the signing ceremony for the “CGU–ENU International Research Collaboration Memorandum” was held in the First Meeting Room on the second floor of the Administrative Building at CGU’s North Campus. Chairman Kang Qipeng extended a warm welcome to the visiting guests from the UK. President Li Xiaoguang presented a guest professor certificate to Prof. Maxwell Chipulu. In the future, both parties will engage in deeper and broader research collaboration, jointly exploring new pathways for the internationalization of higher education.

On the afternoon of November 4, CGU launched the Teacher International Research Capacity Enhancement Program (2025), aiming to focus on cutting-edge international academic topics, the latest theories and methods, as well as trends in disciplinary development. The program will make full use of the high-quality research resources of Edinburgh Napier University, offering a series of customized courses for the faculty and establishing an exchange platform for information sharing and mutual learning.

On November 5, Prof. Nathalia Tjandra and Prof. Maxwell Chipulu from Edinburgh Napier University respectively delivered academic lectures on “Imposter Syndrome in Academia” and “The Role of Data Analytics Organizational Culture in Successful Enterprise AI Adoption”. These lectures enhanced the faculty’s research confidence and broadened their international perspectives.

On November 6, the two universities held a seminar for the members of the International Research Collaboration Project Team to further deepen cooperation, promote research development as well as strengthen communication and collaboration among project team members. On the same day, a training session for joint master’s degree supervisors (second) was held, where Prof. Nathalia Tjandra implemented a special training on “Master’s Thesis Supervision”. This training enhanced the professional skills and supervisory capabilities of the joint master’s degree supervisors at CGU, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the project.

The series of events deepened the collaboration and exchange with high-level foreign universities, enhancing CGU’s comprehensive school-running level and international influence. Looking ahead, CGU will continue to work closely with Edinburgh Napier University, exploring more fields of cooperation, achieving further breakthroughs in international education and research collaboration, as well as writing a new chapter of mutually beneficial cooperation in order to cultivate more excellent talents with international perspectives, intercultural communication skills and innovative spirit.
